Ed’s Drive-In, nestled on College Avenue in Jackson, AL, is a charming fast food restaurant that perfectly captures the nostalgic essence of an old-school drive-in. This local gem delivers a menu bursting with Southern-inspired comfort food done right, serving up flavorful, hearty dishes that satisfy every craving.

Step up to the counter or park right outside and dive into their standout offerings like the iconic bacon cheeseburger—juicy, savory, and loaded with just the right amount of crispy bacon for a mouthwatering first bite. The double bacon cheeseburger paired with golden onion rings and sweet potato tots is an indulgence in every sense, effortlessly blending smoky, crispy, and sweet flavors. Seafood lovers will find their haven here too, with perfectly fried hand-breaded shrimp baskets, tender catfish filet specials, and generous seafood platters featuring a delightful mix of fried fish, butterfly shrimp, hush puppies, and slaw.

The menu’s diversity shines with sandwiches like the classic Shrimp Po’Boy, grilled chicken and fried chicken sandwiches that boast crispy exteriors and juicy interiors, and comfort treats such as ham & cheese, grilled cheese, and a satisfying BBQ sandwich. For those seeking a more filling meal, the catfish dinner or hamburger steak dinner bring generous portions of Southern soul food that feel like a warm, delicious hug. Don’t overlook the sides—crispy French fries, chili cheese fries, and slaw dogs add extra layers of flavor and fun to your meal.

The dining atmosphere at Ed’s Drive-In is as welcoming as its food. With plenty of parking and options to sit at picnic tables or enjoy your meal directly in your car, it radiates a relaxed, throwback vibe that makes every visit feel special. Customer Cynthia Gibson appreciated the fast service and ample parking, perfect for anyone stopping by on the go. Curtis Young fondly describes the place as an “oldtime drive-in,” praising the great handmade milkshakes and classic burger and fries combo that keep him coming back.

Though the building carries a bit of vintage charm that might benefit from a refresh, the quality of the food and the genuinely friendly service more than compensate. Nick Nope, visiting from out of town, sums it up perfectly: “WHAT. A. FIND!” celebrating the delicious food and warm atmosphere that made his whole family happy—from the seasoned fries down to the fried shrimp. Sara Wylie’s experience echoes this enthusiasm, raving about the freshly made loaded bacon cheeseburger and crispy cheese sticks with marinara that tempted her so much she didn’t have time to snap a photo.

Delicious!!!! We are from out of town and was looking for a local spot and WHAT. A. FIND! service was great, it has an old school feel type to it and we absolutely loved it! I had the bacon cheeseburger which was delicious. Little one had a regular hamburger and she loved it. We got the seasoned fries and they were pretty good. Wife got the fried shrimp and we LOVED them! If passing through the area I highly recommend checking this place out!!!

I don't have pictures because I ate everything! This is like an old-time drive in. You can sit in your car or at a picnic table. Great handmade milk shakes. Burger and fries are my usual order. But expensive!! Today - Jan. 4, 2022, I stopped in on my way home. Got my usual burger and fries with a milk shake. Finally remembered to take some pictures.

Loaded bacon cheeseburger and cheese sticks with marinara were so good I didn't have time to take a pic. Sorry. Great service, freshly made, reasonable prices. We'll be back!

Big old fashioned burgers. Little pricey but good quality food. The property could use a fresh coat of paint and updating, but it's definitely worth a visit. We drove all the way from Daphne Alabama and were not disappointed.

A flash back in time when drive up hamburger stands were the thing ..I had to stop here when I drove by. I had no idea this place was here until I drove by. The girls who work in it are young and a bit giggly, they couldn't answer many questions but there was a more mature woman in the back who could answer stuff. I was informed Typically they fry fish in the same oil as fries but they have two different oil fryers so since I was there earlier my fries would not be contaminated with fish taste because no fish had been cooked in one of the fryers yet that day. The food was good and it's better than stopping at a fast food chain restaurant when on the road. I would stop by here again if in the area.

Delicious everytime. Authentic, real ice cream-milkshakes. Burgers are so good. Hot, fresh food everytime. Fries usually need a bit more salt, but honestly no real complaints here. Don't pass this unassuming little spot up!
